I always use a custom built CMS... if you can build your own I recommend it - you can then have things exactly as you need them.

Joomla & Wordpress for me. Last time i used Dragonfly, but i learned my lesson.

Em, you have to be careful when u install plugins or modules or comm though, coz it might slow your site down. When i first used Joomla i installed all the cool comm i could find. So when anyone loads my site, it got slow coz the modules was accessing other sites for its displays. So know what you install first and uninstall it if u dont wanna use it.

there's pro and contra within using opensource script and custom build script. '

I already coded my own cms before (long time ago) .. but i wont do it anymore , because..
- it's really pain to code whole site cms. Took 3 - 4 month!.
- the most hate thingy is, the SECURE LEVEL of my own system.. ie : sql injection possibility, admin console hacked bla bla..
- and many more..

To code is to know most of the related thing.. from best code, best sql query, best execution of the script that relate to the fast or slow load of the page..
BUT THE MAIN THING overall is, how's secure you system to be hack.

So.. then, i swith to free and opensource software.. I dont had to worry people hack since most established cms had a huge and fast support.. The update will release immediately if some people's found the hole and bug!

It's about EASY and saving time also avoiding headache too..

i dont know what happen to your joomla site but if you prefer more to blogging, wordpress is more suitable , lightweight. but if you prefer a decent cms and noob friendly, joomla is youbest friend because you can create so many type of website from , hotel reservation to car rental site its very versatile but if you prefer more advanced system i think Drupal or Plone can handle what you request.

p/s: tgh tgu joomla 1.5 stabil version.

didnt know what to say but just wait for Joomla 1.5

btw our experience and background is different

2 improvement i notice in Joomla 1.5
- Core SEF included no need External SEF like OPENSEF and ARTIOSEF to activate 3rd party plugin for Joomla
- Better Templating System in Joomla 1.5

oh yea.. yet another 'my hate thingy' in joomla is, the AUTO-LOCKED (checked out?) thing while edit a post (i'm not really remember what the name it is)..

then i need to go to system = global check = check in (this is the most un-understandable-able for me) .. Am i right?

Ok.. i'll try to look the next 1.5 version later..

But anyway, must take alot of effort for you to do that.

Anyone tried Drupal? It's quite good for SEO too...

Looking for the best CMS

I'm still new and would like to use CMS to build up website. Still looking for the best CMS. Ada banyak dalam opensource CMS, boleh download tp x pandai nak install ke web server. Pernah ditawarkan servis utk installation shj. I thought I wanna try to install it myself, tp really x tau since I'm not in IT field. Please advise. Thanks.

There is no best CMS. You need to try out each CMS and see which one is for you. A few good one to try out are Joomla, Drupal, and more recently Wordpress.
