USD 140.85 ----- > bank account shows RM451.80 ..

This doesn't make sense to me at all.. can someone please tell me how the conversion rate should be ?

In any case, I feel I've been ripped because I've been told by them that I'm going to be charged 20-30 ringgit only.

Bank conversion rate is typically the worst. It's around RM3.63 to a dollar now.
By that calculation, you should be getting RM511.

Looks like you got charged RM60...

I've read one of the posts made by Liewcf and found out that Maybank and Public Bank charges extremely high if you bank in overseas checks.

Lesson learned. Don't ever bank in Adsense checks in Maybank. In fact, I kinda hate Maybank now because they are trying to squeeze every single penny out of you. Malaysia Boleh, Maybank Tak Boleh.

Remember how Maybank charged us RM2 for over-the-counter trasaction? This is call sucking blood. Anyway, thankfully, the Finance Minister has squashed this kind of fees.... Malaysia boleh.

I hear Bank Bumiputra is the cheapest. If I'm not mistaken, the fees is RM10 if you bank into your home branch.

Yeah! I got BCB account. But I opened the account in Penang now I'm in KL. I think maybe bank in check in RHB still ok. I dont mind paying 5 ringgit more but 60ringgit!!! Pi mampus la!!!

THanks for your advice. My cheque is coming, after 1 year of struggling. So, I think I will go for CIMB first, before going to Maybank or publicbank to clear it
