I found out this site that blog about search engine optimization http://www.it-sideways.com/. He said that meta tag is important and currently his site has 200 incoming links.

During my research - his site only have 15 inbound links and all come from other people blogs.

If you go to his site, you will notice at the bottom of his page:

And anchor text that link to his site www.it-sideways.com.

There are 20 anchor text that repeated and all point to www.it-sideways.com.

This is what we called "anchor text spam".

My advice to all of you, DON'T DO THIS!

Don't spam the search engine cause Google don't like this and Yahoo will penalized this site cause of excessive crosslinking sooner or later..

Eventhough search engine value the important of anchor text to rank your site high, but please don't spam it like this.

may be should advice him to spam other key phrase instead of "IT Sideways", as it is not competitive at all, no one will target that, so by putting one in title is more than enough already. anyway, no one will search that phrase.
