You may start by submitting to Google at here : http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl

Actually, most of my sites that indexed by Google were not submitted. Simply get a back-link from other sites (prefebably high PR site), and you are good to go.

In order to get ranking within top 10, probably you can have more reciprocal linkings to other website. The more links you have, then i think Google search engine will be able to index your website. maybe you can take an insight into SEO.

There is no need to submit into search engine. Just get one website which is inserted in to most search engine to link back to you. When search engine update its link, your website will get submited.

To get top 10 will be a challenge for certain keyword. Google will most probably take a year before you website get into top 100, as there is sandbox.

just my 2c... you can submit your site through some submission service like addme.com, ineedhit.com etc...but I agree with most of the opinion here i.e. you should get some back link to your site... it is a good way to get the visitor...

About submitting to Search Engines - submitting a domain name won't help. If you don't have links as well they won't bother.

Using Google Sitemaps, however, is worthwhile.
