Does Wikipedia Rule or Ruin?
You must have seen it, it's everywhere. What am I talking about? Wikipedia, the online collaborative encyclopedia has taken over the search terms.
Many searchers love it. Many SEOs hate it. Webmasters both extoll the quality of traffic links from it bring, and condemn Wikipedia for the rel=nofollow tags. What do you think about it? Has it impacted your search terms? Is it a force for good for for evil? How can an SEO beat Wikipedia?

Is it fair that wikipedia is ranked well for so many search terms, benefiting from all the links to it, but they refuse to allow others to benefit from the links they give out themselves?
If everyone changed their links to wikipedia to rel=nofollow the SERPS wouldn't last long...

They recently successfully raised near $1 million already. Cool.
Wikipedia to me is one of the better thing happen on the internet. For SEO and Spammers, I think they are the best thing that happen for the internet. Where else you could get free links so easily in a highly trusted site? Well, not anymore since they now standardizing the no-follow tag. ![]() |
