I got a BIG problem
I got a site www.twelvezodiac.com, it was listed in google if you type in twelvezodiac.
I need to know why is my site listed as "Index of /" as the heading? And the folder that has my images linked to my index is also indexed at google... I don't want them to list my image folder, how do i do that??.. and don't want my site heading to be "Index of /" Izzit because i didn't put the meta title? Can someone please give me an answer and help me out... ![]() Last edited by arthermax : 19-04-2007 at 02:58 AM. |

Seems that Google has already visited, indexed and cached your site before you even upload your final webpages
![]() Probably bcos you mentioned or posted a link to the site before it was finalized. From my experience, Google Bot visits very often .. almost everyday ... so you will just need to wait for the next update of Google's index (but i don't know how often the index is updated) |

Once Google has updated the index, your 'images' folder will not be shown anymore, bcos there is no direct link to that folder
But anyone can still list the 'images' folder's files if they manually type the address in the browser http://www.twelvezodiac.com/images/ ... yes, i tried .. your 'images' folder is open for everyone to view ![]() You have to log in to your web hosting control panel and turn off file indexing for the 'images' folder Hth Last edited by yonghs : 19-04-2007 at 02:14 PM. |

if you don't want to list all your images under your image folder(http://www.twelvezodiac.com/images/) in browser, login to your hosting control panel and disable the directory listing option...
if you don't want the spider/crawler to index your images ... use robots.txt to exclude it from indexing.. Last edited by iamfreelancer : 19-04-2007 at 04:08 PM. |

Make sure the links on your site are not broken and the pages will be crawled properly.
Google bot will visit your site almost everyday (i have a few sites and it's the same case with Google bot) .... oh yeah, MSNBot will visit very frequently too Here are the bots that visited one of my site 2day: MSNBot Inktomi Slurp Googlebot Voila Alexa (IA Archiver) AskJeeves Btw, seems quite easy to get good ranking with MSN ... one of my site got top ranking within a month for my keywords.... but the most traffic still comes from Google la ![]() |
