From the standpoint of cultural influence, I'm impressed with the smartest thing of Arabians is to to influence the world by embedding Arabic elements into the religion.

One of the best examples: Egypt which originally had her own advanced cultures and religion and sub sequentially adopted the religion and Arabic writings influenced by Arabians due to conquer.

From the historical standpoint of cultural influence (i.e. arts, clothes, food, practice etc), South East Asia (SEA) or Asia Tenggara in Malay language was historically sub Indian influenced, from Burma to Thailand to Cambodia to Vietnam to Malaysia to Indonesia to Brunei.

Since about 10+ century AD, the things (i.e. the arts, clothes, food, practice etc) changed when the Islam religion starts to influence the South East Asia, particularly, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Southern part of Philippines and Southern part of Thailand. Bali is the last paradise not influenced by Islam, maintaining the sub Indian culture.

Northern part of Philippines, certain part of Indonesia and certain part of Borneo starts to be influenced by Christian due to the Western imperialism.

Since 111BCE, Vietnam starts to be influenced by Confucianism, Chinese folks religion and Chinese Buddhism replacing Indian Buddhism due to the Chinese dominance.

Malaysia still has its uniqueness (partially shared by some SEA countries) for the combination of food: Nasi Goreng Kampung, Roti Canai, Laksa, Curry Mee, Penang Prawn Mee etc.

For Malaysia, in term of self-development (e.g. economics, science etc), go for the Malaysians regardless of races and religions, only we can help ourselves on our initiatives. Muslims, Buddhists, Christians and others from other countries can't help us much.

If USA doesn't take her initiatives for self-development, she will not be the most advanced country today.
