you'd have to ask mynic this... mynic had indeed sent out questionaires back then (must be over two year ago, I think) surveying domain owners on the preference for .my TLD instead of 2nd TLD .com.my etc. I'm not sure what happened to the findings, and if they'll ever put out .my for registration. More likely, it'll be more expensive than already expensive .com.my. Instead .name was introduced which wasn't that appealing.

Sayang... how malaysian money are flying out of the countries due to forced preference to gTLDs (com, name etc.) and other 2nd ccTLD (.cc, ws etc), and simpler registration process (compared to the tougher malaysian screening like applying for a credit card).

This topic is very much arguable though.
