Let me share some of the tips,

1. Change Appearance from Windows Vista Aero to Windows Vista Basic
a) Right click on your Vista desktop
b) Click on Personalize
c) Click on Windows color and appearance
d) Under "Color Scheme", select "Windows Vista Basic". (You may also select Windows Standard and Windows Classic for even faster performance)

2. Disable Windows Search

* If you found that your disk I/O is busy, try disabling Windows Search, steps as below:

a) Click on start icon
b) Under the search field, type services
c) When the services console opened, look for Windows Search
d) Disable Windows Search


3. Prioritize Your Tasks
a) Right click on taskbar
b) Click on Task Manager
c) Under processes, you will see all your processes currently running
d) Right click on some of the common use program, change the priority to high (only adviseable to set 2-3 programs to high priority)
