Post AMD or Intel, BEST PROCESSOR?

What would you guys go with AMD or Intel?...

AMD processors are currently leagues behind intel's processors, however they're eons AHEAD of pentium 4s, so the balance of power in the CPU market right now leans thus:

Intel Core 2 Duo is the most powerful.
AMD A64 is behind it by a very long way, and is neither as fast, nor as overclockable
Pentium 4s are even worse than that.

Intel processors are the fastest AT THE MOMENT, but AMD's are much cheaper. On top of that, Intel chipset motherboards are very expensive, whereas an AMD motherboard will be cheaper.

i would says tat both processor have its own segment of targeted users....

intel are more powerfull and fitted for high processing power machine like running imaging/multimedia, gaming or server based sofware.

Mean while AMD is more down to earth tat fitted for an average pc users tat only used their pc for spreadsheet or watching video.

its all depends on what you use with it... most user would go for intel but in the end they only using 50% of its processing power and paying 50% more compared to AMD. Its just like buying a ferrari and drive it in a 50kph speed limit street.

Well, no point to spend more money and buy expensive intel unless you have a purpose.

Like us webmasters...AMD is good enough, where we got time to play games?

AMD was faster - true in the past, now not.

Intel is faster when Core and the later series are out.

Talking

Pentium has a slight advantage over AMD in the multitaking area, but in the gaming area, AMD kills Intel. And for those who are Intel fans; when longhorn comes out and Intel develops their 64 bit processor; then we'll see who is better....

That is old case/comparison.

Now no longer Pentium 4.
Intel duo core/quad core are leading.

yaa...always double the min ram that microsoft recommended for the OS... to make the OS and machine run even faster... triple/quadruple the ram... oh... not to forget that having a good and reliable motherboard, video and sound card helps too...
