Well, blame Prozone and myself. Prozone launched in in 2005 and me in 2006.

heh. with the advent of blog software, does anyone still use dw? i left web design a little before "web 2.0" took off and now that i've taken an interest again, i hardly use dw. probably because i used dw for static sites before and these days it's hard to find a static site. except maybe gov.my sites.

Yup, if manually and explicitly code by hands, understanding for mechanism behind the scenes definitely enhances your web development experience.

yup... Nvu sme-vu... More like Deja-Vu

sama la, almost that long left much of web design. lotsa web-based point n click tools nowadays including the file edit tool in Cpanel, wysiwyg in Plesk or custom web editing like this form in vBulletin form etc. Desktop-wise, I mostly just use Textpad (much nicer than notepad/wordpad) for minor HTML/PHP editing, but for graphics-intense one, latest releases of Dreamweaver work fine. Haven't tried MS Expression (replacement for Frontpage) yet - anybody have experience?

Notepad++ (open source) is another good alternative.

Notepad++ seems like a good text editor, a much improved Notepad I suppose, but I'm not sure it fits the HTML-compliant category.

Notepad++ is highly HTML-compliant.

See the above screenshot that it contains the HTML tags.

HTML Code:
<table>
   <tr>
      <td>
... blah blah...
