i m not suppose u meant "tab" right? if u were saying when click on those shortcut and it will bring up the opened firefox, i dun think it would be done right? since it actually allows multiple firefox, but is there any point on doin so? unless ur quicklaunch extend super long until it covers up ur active taskbar

i don't think you can restrict firefox to a single instance/window...
maybe you can search on firefox knowledge base at the below url for the answer. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Knowledge_Base |

Tools-> Options> New pages should be opened in: a new tab
Not sure is this what you want. |

So the page will open in new tab, not new window. I don't get any idea what idea you want to do. Only 1 firefox is running? Just close the other one laa.. just leave one. ![]() Last edited by mysticmind; 11-03-2007 at 12:34 AM. |

Based on my understanding of your question, the simple scenario I think of, to reproduce the same situation.
There are few HTML pages stored locally. When clicking each HTML page, a brand new instance of FF is created (a new FF window) to cater for each HTML page. Correct me if wrong. For the above case, there is one workaround that I use. Drag and drop the target HTML page icon (i.e. on the desktop) into the FF, so that a brand new instance of FF will not be created that a new FF window will not be popped up. |

That's the standard behaviour for Windows applications (or other OSes i think) ... a new instance will be created everytime.
The programmer of the software can alter the behaviour by checking for another instance during loading and decide to allow a new instance or not. Btw, Opera 7 will not launch a new instance everytime you try to open it ... only a new tab will be created (i'm not sure about the latest Opera 9 tho, probably same) __________________ http://www.jobcity.com.my Last edited by yonghs; 08-04-2007 at 02:24 PM. |

In Fire Fox menu, select Tools | Options
Select the 'Tabs' icon, and set 'New pages should be opened in' (check the) a new tab. This will open a page in one Fire fox only but a page from the Internet may force it to open in a new window but it is rare. That is the only option available.
