Thanks Amar for the link. Yup, im quite good in joomla, for im a moderator in joomla international forum and founded Malaysian Joomla Community with several friends (Shaifful, Skyjuice, Syahzul).
For a newbie, avoid installing Joomla using Fantastico. A default fantastico installation has several permission issues that will prevent you from installing components / modules and will surely makes a newbie shy away from Joomla.
The second easiest way to have joomla is by downloading the package file from here:
1.0.x series
http://joomlacode.org/gf/download/fr...Package.tar.gz
1.5.x series
http://joomlacode.org/gf/download/fr...Package.tar.gz
After finish downloading, go to your cPanel, use the file manager and upload the file to your webroot (public_html). Then, right click on it and select Extract. later, go to
http://www.sitedomain.com (or
http://www.sitedomain.com/joomlafolder) and youll be redirected to Joomlas' installation page. Everything is quite straighforward from there. Just make sure you have created a mySQL database first before proceeding.
Again, please visit our documentation first.

I highly recommend any newbie to use 1.0.x series first instead of 1.5.x due to incompatibility issue between 1.0.x components and the new 1.5.x. When you decided on a component, make sure its compatibility with your chosen Joomla series.
I have hacked a Joomla module to be used with Fireboard (joomla forum component). You may get it here:
