Im new here. Can anyone help me to estimate the cost and yearly maintenance of building a website like b2b marketplace? Or i like to find a web designer to build my require website. Which web design company more reliable? I will provide more info about my website concept. Thanks and urgent.
Hi! you could contact us at Malaysia Unique and Professional Web Site Design and Development Company - Home - XPOD NETWORK for quotation by providing us more details. Thanks.
Besides, one company price to build my website is RM6k plus RM350yearly renew(domain and hosting), another around RM3500 plus RM1200 renew(domain name, CMS, server backup, 100mb hosting package). I think RM1200 one is ok and promise service, just a bit expensive. Can someone recomend me a reliable company? Any opinion here, pls? urgent! thx
Not too sure abt your requirement of "b2b marketplace"? Is it just a directory? .. you can PM me some details or write it here... maybe give an example?
You may be able to find a script at very low cost (a few hundred ringgit) ... and hosting/domain around RM150~250 per year
I do have an example of this kind of website, its not a secret, please visit mudah.com.my. It is just my personal interest to build this kind of website with different categories, wording (etc) compare to the mudah website. Please give your comment here. Thanks in advance.

marketplace?? what is it mean? is it shopping site.. i always confuse.. with all web term...
some people say market place is classified site
some people say market place is freelance site..
how much to charge for this : Tune ur blog to an onlne shopping site
template, widget, html (body) , setting category, email ,
Classifieds scripts can be bought at typically about a few hundred ~ RM1000+ ... you do not even need to pay maintenance fee ... btw, already emailed you.
PS: I still have a script that i got a couple of years back but still haven't used it... keep changing my ideas haha.

Listen bro, if you want a site like Mudah.com.my with millions of visitors and heavy traffic then you better go for quality and scaleability.
You have to plan ahead, you have to assume that your website will be successful and many visitors will come daily. In that case, you can't depend on some cheap scripts to do the work. Yes they may save you some bucks now, but later on,you will realize that the cheap script is not satisfying your website needs anymore, then be ready to pay a very costy price. It is easier to do changes, updates, or replace the whole system while the site is small, but imagine if a site like mudah decided to change the whole structure over a night. It will consume alot of time and money and might also bring a risk to the business.
so to sum up, I suggest you take your time, test each script you get, and ask each provider to show you a demo of their product/system. Hosting wise it is ok, it won't be a big of a deal. but the most important is the backbone which is the software.. Here are some points you have to look at when you decide to purchase the software:
1. Must be scalable, that is very important. It should be easy to update by adding new functions, and modules. Sadly, few scripts have this feature. I believe if the software is built using MVC methodology, with a modular design, then it should be fine.
2. Must have a good support community. This is applicable to Open source solutions, but if you buy from a company, you have to look at their customer support and see what other customers say about their service. Don't buy from a company with no previous records..NEVER!
3. Again, It is very very important to ask the previous customers/users of any system to tell you about their experience. You don't have to go through the whole hustle somebody else already has been through. For me a company without a previous record is a NO NO even if the company's system is new. Better be safe.
4. Must be secure. That's obvious.
5. The last point is the cost, I think if you find a good software, then let your pocket be a little bit loose, after all nothing is free in this world.
I hope I helped,
Of course you are helping me with those info, appreciated that.
For me, it is just a personal interest to build this kind of website. I agree that low cost low quality, but high cost may not have high quality. I think i will use a sample script to see the response of market, no doubt the cost is low, I still can afford to do it. At the same time, i cant take a high risk to buy or build a website cost RM10K above and later my website traffic less than few hundred people, then close it. If, my website can get good high traffic, i think i can get a sponsor to support my website.
Actually, i have searching for a long time to get a reliable and good service company to help me doing this, unfortunate malaysia still not available, i think so. Even have, they wont interested to build a low cost but high quality website for me, like you said no free lunch in this world. At the end, i'm choosing to start with a script sample temporarily unless i can find a good software etc. I will update again and thanks to your comment.
IMO, unwise to outsource such website development. they can cost up to 20-50k. 5-10k is probably ok (maybe with prewritten scripts). if i were to develop such site, i'd rather hire my own people, get a development team and start a company and customize the website as i like and get serious about it (big money spent)
mudah/lelong/ebay/alibaba is not built in 1 week. they take months to develop & years to improve. marketing direction is very important. their biggest expenditure is money in advertising.
technical-end hosting, u can start with shared hosting, as they grow, shift to your own dedicated server.

I just use free drupal and +-RM150 per year for hosting and domain..
Why pay more for startup while u can easily upgrade your hosting plan(dedicated server maybe)..just choose cheap hosting and make sure to always do backup
