i agreed joomla is good... but personnaly i prefer drupal, wordpress n textpattern.. i have been playing around with so many CMS, n nothin came close to those three..
Joomla is user friendly, but if you want to have a very customized look n feel, it quit limited with joomla..that's why most of joomla site you can tell it from its look.. drupal is in the other hand very customizable.. but some times too many functions just didn't do it.. so depends on situation, u may have to use less complicated CMS such as wordpress or textpattern |

I go for Drupal?
I have seen many "SEO non-friendly URL government sites with Joomla. What's up with that? But I do have Joomla sites up and running now, so I can't help it.
So, Drupal is our choice now. Be happy to change my existing site with Joomla with a nice URL. -najibx- Drupal CMS | Web development for dynamic and interactive web sites |

Drupal is okay.
joomla is big no no (for me at least). joomla giving headache to newbie webmaster. Too complicated, too much UNUSED module. to much complicated thingy. Even for me, i hate joomla.. dont ask me why.. Drupal SEO is far better than joomla. Anyone saw joomla rank #1 in Search engine? (many popular keywords, dont type joomla as a keyworld la).. All dominated by wordpress.. either personal blog or customized to be look like CMS.. try search any keyword.. you'll be shocked.. there's always WP powered site in the first page . you can say iam biased WP... but that's the truth.. huuhuhu Last edited by mysticmind : 24-11-2007 at 12:08 AM. |

Really, who cares if it's ranked what number? As long as we ourselves are 'compatible' with the platform of our choice, that's more important. It's not about ranking. What's the point if it's ranked #1 but we don't feel comfortable using it? Please don't retort like 'whoever doesn't know how to use wordpress is laughable' or something like that. Like I said, it's a matter of choice and preference.
I personally like Joomla because it's so easy to customise and managed. (Unlike Wordpress, designing Joomla template is very easy because you only need one php file for overall look-and-feel of your site, one css directory to put your stylesheet, one image directory for images and one xml file to define your layout for Joomla template installation.) You only need to know how Components, Modules and Mambots work. And then you're on with Joomla. =) |

adl1na : I care about number. Maybe you dont. First thing you should do before choosing your CMS, is to look around. Whats the rating like. How do people find it. How many using it. Test on the site. Download to your pc and install on your server. etc. I am a joomla user, but my customer always have problems with it.
mysticmind: wordpress aims ease of use. the minute you log in, everything is... wahla~ ajax babe. also i believe they have this thing called permalink, its a great SEO features. You can see how I use it to gain no 2 spot on Google within 4 hours of posting. but like adl1na pointed out, the theme is a mess! really need to crack to get it working. but once its done, its lovely i dont think people like to change the template every now and then so often. Will only confuse the reader.

CMS stands for Content Management System, used for managing a content of a website. It gives you complete control over your site - right from the general look-and-feel and the whole content of the site. Check out OpenDNS . wikipedia . org / wiki / Content_management_system for more info.

To make life easier for you why not make a simple research at The CMS Matrix - cmsmatrix.org - The Content Management Comparison Tool and compare the CMSes functionalites?
Before chosing the CMS for you site you must know what functionalites that you want to have and what for? Every CMS has its learning curve that you'll have to anticipate. You can use Wordpress - which is simple to install with lots of free plugins and templates around. For more dynamic site you can use Joomla - quite a bit task to install especially if you're a newbie but lots of free templates and bots to add-on. I cannot comment on Drupal since I've limited experience in configuring this CMS. It's really up to you - what functionalities/plugins that you want to have on your sites which really matters. Most plugins can be obtained free from the websphere. |

Got another question here.
Whats the CMS with low resources usage yet powerful enough for article/news site? (Wordpress excluded) |
