And where there come such arguements, it getting hotter and better.. That's it. As long as under control without 'too much' emotion, and factual points it's a good thing... For other to read and for ourself to understand more and more.

Yes.. couldn't agree more, Many of 'standard' GOOD elements already in WP, but in joomla, i was tried before a rewrite url, it help nothing!.. And to get a better and prettier URL, i must get another plugin/modules.. and if i not mistake.. I must pay for it. (But in WP, its absolutely FREE and just there!).

Why we need to tweak so much? why must we do all this crapping technical things? BTW, it's not only about search engine love blog as many mention earlier.. it must be reason behind all of this.

Tagging and Pingging was a thing to make WP post 'exploding everywhere' and surely fast crawled by the SE bots. Joomla don't ever had such option. (Im not sure the latest version on)

Again.. all those thing already build(plugin) for Wordpress! And most are FREE INDEED!. Well some of the premium one need to pay too.. but many more free one. But i think.. in joomla, not like that. Just install the plugin that you really want too..

The other thing is, joomla template remain the same oldies as 'Phpnuke', 3 column left and right.. well i known, you can make it different but most of it 'REMAIN IN BLOCKS'.

The table use theme lacks of SEO friendly.. They do not maximized usage of H1 H2 H3 etc etc + which come to load first parag (S.E detection technical). Arranging load parag order.. Joomla standard will load 'A TOP MENU' first.. that i noticed. Sometime it load IMAGE HEADER first.

But in WP, (let say about default theme).. It will load Title and Description, then 1st new post. Even such a simple thing done in wp back years ago...

So peoples who read this.. you all can consider by yourself.. dont be too fanatic with Joomla (and wp too), but install in your localhost first.. try install all plugins/modules (gallery, pool, auctions, shopping cart etc) and make a comparison by yourself.. i do believe, 70% most of you will agree with me.

And Notiboy.. Good debate we has here. Congrats.

Now tell me.. where the 'h' is joomla site listed there?
So.. for me... that such a REALLY-REALLY-REALLY BAD THING.

What is the meaning of making a web without better reach and found by the Search engine?
*when I enjoy hundreds if not thousands visitor from search engine to my site... and you got nothing! such a waste and poor thing right?

"Because you love it" you dont have to die for it!.
HAha... seo is a good topic to debate with Joomla + WP.

Why does WP get more page ranks, because out of the box, it is already that way.. so ofcoz it will get more ranks.

Those with Joomla and haven customize their Joomla, will have poor or no ranks at all.

So depends who develope the site lol..

Well, again and again, WP is good out of the box

1 - rewrite url in joom help nothing.. ie : they not even listed in S.E
2 - the learning curve of joomla took toooooo much time. such a waste.
3 - many more to come soon..

i think.. this joomla vs wp should be a split topic. I'll figure out later.

    Whoa?

I just want to build a website that is easy for the average like me.

Maybe we should just change the post title to "JOOMLA OR WORDPRESS"

or something like that so it's be more related to the search engine to find...

Super Moderator may do this easily right?

    well,

    i think the conclusion is.

WP is for basic to intermidiate websites. For startups. Built in features out of the box. Great for most people

Joomla is a beast and the learning curve is much higher than WP. Well, depends on what you can gain during that learning process, some say its useless some say its not.

Joomla is for portals, and serious service websites.

Any arguements on that? Overall, it depends on what you need, both can deliver your goals in a great manner

I've used both and I manage an automotive club's website using Joomla. Currently in the process of porting Joomla DB to wordpress.

I think both is good in their own ways. But I prefer WP as they are less complex. Especially if you're running a large community website whereby not all of your administrator is not a tech savvy or keeps forgetting the difference between a section and category even if you have reminded them a gazillion times.

??? Tak betul tuh...joomla boleh pakai css <div>. hey bro...do you know joomla well enough to say that? Please dont confuse the people here, because most of them like me are beginners. Next time if you want to say something make sure it's right.

    Wordpress is a blogging platform.
Joomla is a portal software / Content Management System.
Drupal is a Content Management System

All target different market. Blogging platform is a subset of Joomla and Drupal.

The problem here when people using Joomla is they make it as a blogging platform not a CMS.

Joomla have a module for SEF (Search Engine Friendly) joomla sef - Google Search

Joomla can do more powerful features than Wordpress if that involve community interaction.

It's easier to do SEO optimization using WP than Joomla. Drupal also has build in SEF URL and WP. I think Joomla has a default SEF setting but not that popular.(they have advanced SEF (paid))

For the interface. I think Joomla has default templates that didn't use table for layout. The admin interface I'm not really sure.

So, for the newbies, if you want a blogging platform, use Wordpress. It's easier. If you want a powerfull CMS use Drupal , or Joomla. Joomla didn't have powerfull access level, just a hard code access level like Wordpress. You can't assign content page A to user A, page B to user B (the default setting). There's the power of Drupal I think.

Still, Joomla and WP is getting better and better in term of backend and Drupal that has a powerful backend now focus on web usability . They assign (paid) Mark Boulton to do the interface / usability for Drupal 7.
Mark Boulton to help with Drupal 7 | Dries Buytaert
Mark Boulton Design | Beautiful, simple design for today's web

The winner is the user that can have many choice of software to choose. This is the power of open source and It's good to have choice .

p/s I'm a Drupal supporter by the way
Zenpipe | Malaysia Web Hosting, Malaysia Domain Name Registration, Malaysia VPS Server
    Art In Software Sdn Bhd

both of my website using Drupal and most of my client website also using Drupal.

    Cheers

The most simple answer is Joomla is for someone that I to create website.

Joomla can easlier to create a new pages and able to remove the navigate/menu/etc.

Worpress is just a normal template. You just able to create a new categories or topics and easy to reply.

Joomla can create the policy/terms & condition pages. Most of the policy webpage doesn't have any menu/banner. You able to remove it.

Wordpress unable to remove because It is a common blog.

Joomla use to create website is better. You can add content without editing the template.

If you want to create a sharing website, using wordpress is the best choice.

If you want to create company/team/design/movie/music website, Joomla is the best.

    Joomla for advance user

hahahaha hahahaha because i love joomla.

Boleh ke WP dijadikan platform utk enterprise such as DMS? CRM?, WP is a blogging platform la , but with Joomla we can do that.

Sape ckp Joomla gune table jerk? I already made my own theme using 100% div. also you can go to yootheme.com all of the theme was done using div.

But kalau nak advance lagi pakai la Liferay, lagi cool.

Yeahh jom gaduh pasal WP and Joomla, mane forum same jerk mesti akan jadi hot thread. nak lagi hot gaduh la skali ngan fan drupal. hahahaha

    Shoot me WP fan.

    IMHO,

JOOMLA, wordpress Drupal or any other platform out there are just options for you to use depending on your level of skills to manage a website or web programming.

It's up to you to choose which one suit your need and ease of management. To know that, you will have to get hand on experience on each platform rather than asking other people which is more biased toward their owned experiences and skills(most of the time people will tend to talk bad things about other platform although they have never use it!). However, this will require patience as each platform varied in terms of usage, modification and understanding.

The smart thing you can do is to google-up for tutorials for each platform and study them. Good teacher/tutorials will ease your learning curve and give you a good big picture about the platform.

It's not all about how advanced or 'noobed' your user level are. But it's about your willingness to learn and be positive on the decision of platform you are going to use. Find the great start on your platform and enjoy the rocking and shaking of using them in long-term. Nothing is perfect, they all just keep improving themselves
