Because your website is not on the Internet :-) but it is on the intranet.
Anyway, I think people would still be able to view it if they know your ip. Check your ip by typing ipconfig in a DOS window. Then type the ip address instead of localhost.

If you are running your website on your own PC using PWS, then other people won't be able to view it, because your website is not live on the Internet. You can let other people view it, if you are connected to the Internet (dialup using Tmnet for example) and let other people know your IP address.
Please take note that for dialup access, your IP changes everytime you connect/dial to the Internet. People will access your website then by typing something like http://202.122.44.55/anna/ In order to have a more prominent address instead of the IP, you need to register a domain name and get a hosting. Then, people can access your website like http://www.anna.com/ Other people viewing your website do not need to have PWS. And YES, PWS can run on WinME.

PWS is Personal Web Server. It serves the web page to the client, that is the web browser such as IE and Netscape.
PWS runs on the computer that serves the page. People who view the page does not need to have the server on their computer. They only need the client. The client will request for the page on the server, and the server will send the page requested to the client. If the server is run on LAN environment, all the computer connected to the LAN can view the website by typing http://<server LAN ip address>/ in the client. If you want people on the Internet to view the website, you must tell them your IP address assigned by the ISP. They in turn, will type http://<ISP assigned IP address>/ to view the website. Make sure you run/execute the server before asking others to view the website. If the server is not running, who will serve the request? |

again, get yourself a book. RM 120-140 is a good investment. it'll save you time and from asking simple questions. before starting to build a website (esecially with server side scripting), it's good to learn a bit of internet concepts, client-server computing, servers, etc...
as for publishers, i'd recommend Wrox. |

A website with templates is a dynamic website. For example, to display hundreds of products, they need one template only. There are variables in this template, such as the product name, product description, product images, product price,... these variables are filled with data from a source such as the database, when it is displayed.
On the other hand, a website without a template would need 100 manually coded (by copy and paste) pages for the 100 products. As you can see, it would be very very deadly tedious and difficult to modify even a single spelling mistake. For a template website, you need to modify 1 (one) page only, where as for a website without, you need to modify 100 (one hundred) pages! Hope this explains... :-)

ops another thing..... lets say i have a table or a css box. And this containers have a user input displayed inside them. I have fixed the width of this two containers, but if a user tyoes in a very long word (probably crap) that exceeds the width of the containers, the table or the box dont wrap the text, ant thus disfigures my layout. is there any method other than server side word processing to handle this situation? Thnaks friends
