I have a problem with my ASP program.

It's a store, retrieve and update program from a database.

previously it connect to access 2000 db and its work perfectly.

Then somebody ask me to change to SQL Server 2000 (IIS5.0 and SQL Server 2000 in the same web server).

Then the following problem occurs :
When try to connect to the SQL Server it state the following error "...... login fail as user........ "

Actually there r no security setting set. means UID=; PWD=; or
Trusted_Connection=yes;

Then we try to use my pc using PWS as a server and link to SQL server it can work perfectly. That's mean if separate machine it work (IIS5.0 and SQL Server 2000 in separate server).

Can u pls help me solve this problem b'coz i've tried for long time to solve it.

try this:

1. go to Services (My Computer->Manage->Services & Applications->Services).

2. Find MSSQLServer, go to Properties

3. Go to Log On tab, check (tick) Local System Account, then click OK.

check your authentication mode (you have set it during the SQL Server installation. by default the password is Administrator or sa).

The system is already set that option:

but still the same error came out.

I'm still new with the IIS5.0 and SQL server 2000 setting and troubleshooting, can u pls tell me how to do the following item below.

I think it should be with the authentication problem.

Is there any other way to solve this problem.

sorry, i meant the username is "Administrator" or "sa". if the error message is "login failed as user", then i believe your username is "user" and UID in your connection should be "user". check it out.

also, try to look at your SQL Server Registration properties:

1. Start->Programs->SQL Server->Enterprise Manager
2. Right click on your server under SQL Server Group and click on "Edit SQL Server Registration properties".

lastly, can you post your connection as well as the error that you are receiving in details? i'll see what i can do.

maybe u install that sql server 2000 by default setting..
if default the username & password is...

UID=sa; PWD=; .....the password is blank, no password

Reason of the problem :
1) The user automatically create a IUSR_machinename user. This user is a Internet User, guest created by default by IIS5.0.
2) When try to login to the SQL Server 2000 DB it will says login fail as user IUSR_machinename.

To solve this problem :
1) Go to the SQL server 2000 DB.
2) Click the DB which has error.
3) Go to the user
4) Add new login user
5) Create IUSR_machinename.

Then all the problem is solved

aku dah install IIS kan..aku guna dreamweaver MX
database aku guna access.aku guna la connection server.mappath:

"Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};DBQ=" & Server.MapPath ("/db/databaseaku.mdb")

tapi tak boleh link ke database.....klau boleh pun table dier tak jumper......
