Of course you will get an error la. You should not <cfinclude> this file at the action page of the registration... wrong place wrong place...

This file "PreRegisterSessionUSer.cfm" is used to check whether a user has logged in or not,
1. if he has logged in, then we proceed to display the page
2. if he has not login, then we bring him to the login page

For example, let's say I have a page called "modify_profile.cfm" that is used to display a member's profile and let him do modification. Of course I won't simply let anybody view it... What I need to do is, I will check whether a user has logged in. If he has logged in, then HE IS A MEMBER, and so DISPLAY HIS PROFILE FOR HIM TO MODIFY. How??

How to know he has logged in or not?
Check session.username. If session.username is IsDefined, then he has logged in ! Proceed to display his profile by

<cfquery name=qryProfile datasource=data>
select * from users
where username = '#session.username#'
</cfquery>

In short, at the very top of "modify_profile.cfm", I will put <cfinclude template="PreRegisterSessionUSer.cfm"> to do the checking....

------
You get an error is most likely because the server cannot find the variable Session.UserName. Right?? This is because, your user has not logged in.

Ops, sorry again. I haven't tried ColdFusion 5 myself. At my workplace, I am using ColdFusion 4.5 Enterprise on several Solaris boxes with clustering. These are powerful machines.

However, at home (personal development, freelance projects), I am using ColdFusion 4 on Athlon 700 + 384 MB RAM + Windows98. It runs very fast. I have another lower end PC running ColdFusion 4 too, it is a Pentium 166 + 64MB RAM + Windows98. This ColdFusion runs well too, and should be fine for small scale development work.

Probably whit3_cryst4l has tried CF5, maybe she can tell us how well CF5 performs... and on what kind of machine configuration. So, whit3_cryst4l.... help help

kenapa nak guna session lagik kalau dah guna cookies, saya refer kepada code ni

<cfset Session.UserName = Cookie.UserName>

kalau tak guna cookies guna jek laa cookies terus kalau nak guna session guna laa session terus ..

cf5 kalau tak silap mempunyai ability tuk force session kalau korang ader 2 atau lebih server tuk surf coldfusion ni . then cf5 mempunyai component (cfc) yang tak der lam 4.5, selain dr tu 4.5 pon ader masalah sikit dengan memory management kalau tak silap aku yang menyebab kan proses tuk coldfusion server tinggi semacam jek

tu aje nak tambah
