True, true, true... you don't need to pay to do practical work. When you go to these courses, most of the time you'll be reading off a book which they provide. It's up to you to read it, understand it and practice it.

In programming; especially web development, all you need to know is the concept. Once you have mastered the concept, you can code in any language you want... PHP, ASP, CFM, JSP... all of them are programmed in a similar fashion, only the code is different.

Another thing, a good programmer has reference to refer to when coding - for php, the official PHP manual is EXCELLENT. It's there and it's free... Use it!

One last thing, don't expect to master programming overnight - it doesn't work like that... It may (and should) take a few years to master the concepts of web development/programming. Just if you can't do something and you've tried your best, seek for help. I'm sure there are people here at webmastermalaysia that would be more than willing help with your problem. NEVER GIVE UP!!!

Anyway, good luck

I advise you to set yourself something to build, and learn how to do it. Try not to use a tutorial to build that kind of site, but learn it from only one site: php.net

Everything you need for php is in php.net
