Hi,

i) The ISAPI module is loaded when your web server is loaded, so it is running all the time. The CGI module is only called when a request is made.

iii) I'll answer question (iii) first, according to 'bechmarks', the ISAPI module is aywhere between 1.5 to 2 times faster than the CGI module (CGI not FastCGI). See http://php.weblogs.com/discuss/msgReader$2577 for some more info on this.

ii) Which is better? Well, it depends, like I said, if you're only going to use it at a development level, a CGI module should suffice. But, i believe that there is no one answer to this question, different people may resonably argue that the ISAPI module is better and others may argue that the CGI modules is better.

According to benchmarks, when I say, 1.5 to 2 time faster, I'm talking about milli-seconds. If the amount of requests you make is less than 40,000 requests per minute, you shouldn't feel any difference.

But an advantage of the ISAPI module is that it is stronger, security wise. A consideration you should make if your going to run it at a production level.
