How would you control a terminal (hide/lock the desktop) using standalone php?

From that small snippet, it looks like your trying to use PHP's GTK extention (but I wouldn't know, cause I don't know what's in your server class), however, that still doesnt explain how you control the terminal.

Yeah... but to get it running, you would need the GTK extention for PHP, correct? Without that extention, it can't run standalone.

For example, the function in your previous script:
gtk::timeout_add

is a (PHP-)GTK function, and not a standard PHP function, therefore would not be considered standard PHP.

The main classes which control computer process are all GTK classes such as:
GtkWindow, GtkWidget, etc.

I do understand where you're coming from, it's just that I feel that you can't do it in 'pure' PHP.

yup! mmg pakai gtk extension. but gtk digunakan utk interface (linux la yg byk) dan salah satunya utk kegunaan php. gtk digunakan dlm php utk create window, button, input etc... but utk query sql, create socket, listen socket still language php? so ape masalahnya php utk tlg mamat tu buat projek dia? at least the language still o/source ye tak? ni pendapat/idea aku la. kalau x terima takpe...
