I felt that many web sifu's in Malaysia tend to have the mentality of seeking existing scripts (either server or client script) instead of writing one on your own. Many from the western or developed nation takes the innitiative to write their own libraries or scripts, but we have the tendency to rely or depend on them. Thats why I think many fresh IT grad in Malaysia still hard to find a job and at the same time there are lots of company hiring programmers from India or China.

I dont think Malaysian are not as capable as those guys from the developed nation, I just think most Malaysian's brain are just too lazy. I know we are not as fortunate as those people but I think we are much better than those living in India, they can do it why can't we?

Really love to hear some thoughts from all of you.

yes it's unfortunately true and i totally agree with you. but why only "web sifu's"? what is a web sifu anyway? everybody's learning something from someone else, right? this is another 'malaysian' mentality, the inferiority complex - where you think when you're new at something and another person isn't, that other person is magically a 'sifu' and he knows everything and anything. but how did he learn in the first place?

everytime i type the url webmastermalaysia.com, i'd usually make a typo where i'll type "webmastermalas.com" instead. then i'd say 'oops' and silently laugh at myself and at the coincidence of it all. heheh.

I am sorry but thats not all true. The last company I work with spent RM 10k per month to hire two programmers from India for one year contract and then about 3500 per month on another one for a permenant basis.

Mostly malas-ian student / grad one.. berlagak macam bagus!

Only a sijil paper the demand like having a 10 years experience!.

Just told to do only a guest pun dont know lah!..

but i dont doubt there's still a good programer in mlysia.. like someone here thus get paid about (USD 2500) RM10,000 per month.. Just working online..

Not all Malaysian programmers are like that. Me for one don't like copying people's code, don't have confidence in them. I just fire up my PFE (Programmer's File Editor) and start coding. Learned Java on my own (an Electrical Engineering grad from UM) and can say I'm one of the best... he he he...

Sometimes the amount you get paid is not relative to your skills. No offence towards the person mentioned by mysticmind, I don't who you are. Just something that I saw before especially foreigners who say they know and can do this and that but can be beaten flat by one of my students (my subordinate taught by me)... :P

i think.. the another thing is..
Malaysian want something that have a PACKAGE.

Maybe same about a singer.. thus have a good voice and talented but not have a commercial face. = not successfully.

but thus have a package - face, voice, talents, body etc = more successfully.

It's not a wrong thing actually. Just Malaysian is high taste person.


So.. JUST A SKILL is not a guarantee for you to got what u like. U need a PACKAGE.
Even you is super duper programer.. but u dont have the another part. U still nothing?.

Like this. : a Superb C++ or software developement. Yes, if she/he is a really really good programer, but! if the software created bad looking in design etc.. I think he/she still not GOOD right? .

The another part again. u need something to be your KillerSong. Killer part!. Example = if a web programer = u must have a really good website, not only to show your skill, but to promote yourself too.

Before blaming another, we should make a research.. why and what etc.. or at least.. try to be the best.

Sebenarnya fenomena nih bukan saja jadi kat negara kita malaysia. Even di UK dan us... sebenarnya kat sana, Indian sangat ramai bekerja menjadi programer disana. Dan ada kalanya gaji mereka juga adalah lebih tinggi dari Orang Putih disana!!? Tak percaya? Kalau korang buka adobe photoshop yang glamer tuh.. korang nampak tak beberapa nama programer dari india? Believe it or not? Believe it!
