Guideline on seeking help in this thread - 10-05-2007, 10:25 AM

i wouldn't say this is an official guideline, but at least is a courtesy way of asking for help (for wat i think)..

1. Use language which is understand by mostly everybody here.
Like wat mysticmind mentioned before, please refrain from using SMS language especially Bahasa Melayu's SMS language.

2. After having urself using an understandable language, is time to make your question clear. wat r u trying to acheive? wat problem u faced? wat u did before? wat kinda ways did to took before to overcome this problem but fail?

3. After stating out clearly on ur problem encountered, is time to put in the codes tat's u'd tried before (if there's any), this is the most important thing to do cause most of us here when trying to help u we need to look at wat u had done so far to be able to pin-point wat's wrong. Without this, not only u will have a hardtime solving the problem, even we who wanted to help also will have a hardtime.

4. Last but not least, after you write ur request, before sending it, give urself a minute and read thru wat u'd typed, put urself in every kinda ppl from layman, proffesional to different races of ppl, will this understandable by mostly everybody? if is ok, then only post it.

So, help us help u
as mysticmind said again - u have to know how to ask for help before asking for help

I would like to add that you should also have a clear subject line. Make it short but descriptive of the problem. Don't put something like "please help" or "help me" or "need help" etc which does not say much about the problem at first glance. The descriptive subject line will help others quickly know if they can help on the topic or they should skip it if they are not able to help or not interested in the topic.

I also agree about the language. Please try to be as clear as possible without using all those short-cut words etc. Those don't help describe the problem clearly. If you cannot take the time to write out the problem in full words and sentences, then you shouldn't expect people to spend their time trying to help you.

Once the subject title is created, can't be updated/enhanced to be better, in case that initially, the subject tittle was not properly defined.
