Tips on leaving a good, helpful critique:
A.) Don't demand changes, suggest them. IE, don't say, "The position that hand is in is all wrong. It should be raised higher over his head." Suggest that perhaps the hand would look better if it were raised a bit higher over the head. The same goes for color - don't say "your color choices suck, that area should be green, not blue". Suggest that, in your opinion, the blue areas would look better if they were a shade of green instead. B.) Explain yourself. Saying "that face looks weird" isn't really as helpful as you think. Explain what it is about the face that you think looks weird, because leaving such a general statement just ends up confusing the artist, especially if they didn't notice that anything was wrong with the area in question to start with. So instead of saying "that face looks weird", consider saying something along the lines of "the face looks a little wrong, I think it's because the eyes are a little too far apart, and the nose is a little bit crooked". Yes, it takes ten seconds more and a little bit of thought on your part, but if you're going to critique, you want it to be helpful, don't you? C.) Don't suggest radical changes in subject matter. Unless the piece is unfinished, when you're looking at a 20+ hour, finished-for-the-most-part piece, don't suggest that the artist should take the piece in an entirely different direction, because they can't without starting all over again. (IE, if it's a picture of, say, an elephant wearing a tutu, suggesting that the artist should make the elephant into a horse isn't going to help : p). If you're making a suggestion for the artist's next piece, make that clear (IE, "next time, it'd be cool to see this as a horse wearing a tutu"). D.) Take the artist's style into consideration. Not everyone is going for correct proportions and hyper-realism. So if someone's style OBVIOUSLY isn't geared toward looking like a photograph, making suggestions to make it look more realistic are probably going to be ignored and not really help anyone. If the artist seems to be attempting correct anatomy and they're a little off (like me : p), suggestions of that nature would probably be welcomed; but if the proportions are obviously off on purpose (IE, the legs and arms are four times as long as the body, with huge hands and feet, the artist is probably intending for it to look that way). E.) BE POLITE. Your critique should NEVER contain the words "you suck", "this is terrible", "what were you thinking", etc. Critiques are meant to be helpful and to push an artist in the right direction, NOT to offend them and tell them how terrible of an artist they are. Being polite while giving a critique will help to soften the "blow" and is less likely to land you a flame. Sprinkle in compliments along with your critiques (IE, "I really like the colors here, but maybe if they were blended in a little bit more, it would work even better."), and, for crying out loud, if you absolutely hate a style (*coughanthrocough*) and have nothing to say besides "This style sucks and you should do something else with your life, you're not an artist".. Just shut up and don't bother leaving a comment at all. No one is going to change their style because you don't happen to like it. : ) taken from my friend's forum at http://www.neosynthesis.net

Exactly the point. Kita kalau bersifat positive, maka komen
Sekian.

be polite as well
yup, aku setuju dgn pandangan Muid Latif.
Kita perlu lebih bersopan (BE POLITE) dgn pendapat atau kritikan kita sendiri. Kadang-kala kita tidak perlu terlampau jujur sangat (TOO NAIVE) ketika memberi komen. Sekadar renungan kita bersama utk mempertingkatkan cara kita memberi pandangan ![]()

Mudah2an boleh menjadi rujukan kepada ahli2 webmastermalaysia. what do you think? ![]()
